1.Check In With Your Hydration & Not Just Water.
Are you drinking 1/2 your healthy body weight of pure filtered water in ounces each day? Are you loading up on your healthy fats like avocado, nuts, seeds, nut butters, oils (unrefined coconut, olive, etc), wild salmon, cod, sardines, spirulina & supplementing with Omega 3? Hydration of water & fats is sooooo important especially when we’re moving into Autumn or Vata Season. Our environment becomes cooler & drier as the season presses toward Winter, and so do we. Staying lubricated is a must for getting ahead of cold and flu season with a strong immune system.

2. Eat Cooked, Oiled & Gently Spiced Foods
Think holiday cooking! Soups, stews, casseroles and spices like rosemary , thyme, coriander, cumin, cinnamon, clove. nutmeg & cardamom! Digestion is something most of us struggle with, and as we move into the colder season, digestion slows making it harder to digest smoothies, salads and other “raw” cold foods properly which then leads to digestive woes. Keep it warm, well oiled & spiced. Always choose whole organic non-GMO & non-processed foods. Drinking warm ginger tea or wise water is also and wonderful ally to aid in digestion throughout the day. Your belly will thank you.
3. Move
Whether it’s yoga, jogging, hula hooping, or kickboxing- move your body! It’s the one thing that can boost metabolism, boost energy, fight depression & anxiety, combat chronic inflammation, improve sleep, improve digestion, improve health of skin, lymph & cardio vascular systems… and that’s just naming a few things. Even if you have an active job… make time to move- just for you. YouTube is a great resource. I love the channel Fitness Blender.
4. Find a Good Sleep Schedule
If you aren’t sleeping at least 6-8 hours a night (soundly) you are robbing your body of it’s vitality and that’s just the plain truth. Read more on how to get a good nights sleep here. It’s uber important.
5. Breathe… on purpose. Meditate
We don’t have to think about breathing to make it happen. It just happens on it’s own. BUT when we do take conscious inhales & exhales it makes a world of difference for the health of your mind, body & spirit. When you allow yourself to focus on your breath & simply being with your breath, it becomes the practice of meditation. Set your phone timer to 10 minutes. Close your eyes and be with your breath. Thoughts will come and go… let them. Notices the thoughts and then come back to your breath. Continue to do this until your timer goes off. 6. Skip the Added Sugar
Read your labels… it’s in EVERYTHING. And it does nothing for our health & immunity. Enjoy fresh fruits, dates, nuts, honey & maple syrup and veer away from added cane sugars at all costs. It weakens immunity & supports chronic inflammation all around.
7. Support Your Liver!

Okay so almost of these things are FREE (aside from food shopping). And yes, they’re simple. But these are the things that make the MOST significant changes in our health. Before looking at pills, surgeries & Dr. appointments… ask yourself if you’re doing these 6 things EVERY DAY. If you’re not, get going. Take one at a time & commit. It will change everything. Build up to commit to these practices for 3 months and you’ll be amazed.
