When In Doubt… Listen

In every single session I’ve had with a client, one practice is brought up time and time again…. Meditation. Wait! Stop! Before you say to yourself “I’ve heard this before… I can’t meditate, I tried.. OR Meditation is for hippies or I fall asleep, or I’m not Buddhist”… or any other excuse your mind is giving you to navigate away from this page… I beg you to hear me out.

If you’re picturing someone sitting in lotus pose on a mountain chanting “OM” and think that is the only way to meditate…thankfully you’re wrong lol! There are so many different ways to meditate- some simple and some complex, but all super effective.

Effective for what you might ask? Why the heck would you want to meditate at all

As human beings it seems we are constantly striving for something more. Something different. Something better. Something bigger. Something healthier. Something more impressive. Something to make us feel more accomplished.

The New Year is a time that has us taking stock in what has been or what is, and deciding what we want to change. Loosing some extra weight, training for a marathon, getting that new position, trying out the new full body cleanse, breaking out of that bad relationship or job.

7 Things To Create More Peace, Ease & Health In Your Autumn

1.Check In With Your Hydration & Not Just Water.

Are you drinking 1/2 your healthy body weight of pure filtered water in ounces each day? Are you loading up on your healthy fats like avocado, nuts, seeds, nut butters, oils (unrefined coconut, olive, etc), wild salmon, cod, sardines, spirulina & supplementing with Omega 3?  Hydration of water & fats is sooooo important especially when we’re moving into Autumn or Vata Season.  Our environment becomes cooler & drier as the season presses toward Winter, and so do we. Staying lubricated is a must for getting ahead of cold and flu season with a strong immune system.

Can We Truly Avoid Non-GMO Foods 100% ?

The history of genetically modified foods (and organisms) is a long and complex one.  The role of Monsanto (a corporation that began in 1901) in the creation of GMO seeds & the well known Round-Up herbicide as well as the chemical weapon agent orange (yes, agent orange) is also an ENORMOUSLY long topic to touch upon here. I’m sorry but it’s just the truth.
Life is filled with ups & downs, blessings and challenges and no one can have it ALL FIGURED OUT, all of the time.
It’s just plain impossible.
How could we grow & evolve in life, if the metaphorical waves didn’t capsize us once in awhile?

3 Points On Why Herbs Don’t Work.
No, it’s not the herb’s fault.

It’s social medias fault. It’s every herbal advertisement’s fault.  It’s every practitioner that generalizes fault. It’s every blog post & article that claims that X herb is good for Y because they used it and it worked.

Just like every person on this planet is highly unique & individualized in their make up & personality, so is every herb. Each herb on this planet is equally unique in it’s make up, properties & energetic qualities AND how it will work in an individuals body.
Some herbs are warming, stimulating and activating. While other herbs are cooling, astringent & drying.

It’s Okay To Say @#$% It.

Life can be rough, man.

And honestly, I’m sick of people saying “Suck it up.” Is that truly helpful, or are they just saying we should “stuff it” all “away”.  I believe it’s the later.

Sometimes it’s okay to NOT be okay.

It’s okay to get pissed, to be crushed, to want to SCREAM, to want to wail like a 2 yr old who dropped their ice cream cone on the hot pavement… It’s okay.
