Sounds scary doesn’t it? Well Saturn is a bit scary, well a lot scary, if you ignore it’s lessons.
In a nutshell, Saturn rules deep committed self discipline. It shows us our darkness and pushes us to want to give up in life, but doing so will make Saturn’s influence even more harsh. To persevere towards our dreams, our desires our goals, even through the deep challenges and darkness along our path and surrender to them and their lessons along the way, is Saturn’s teachings.
Saturn is also the planet of solitude, of the hermit. Deep self discipline requires introversion and digging deep into the self to do the work, to tap into our true purpose and DO IT against all odds. Even and especially when it feels like all is lost.
Saturn’s influence will be different in everyone’s birth chart. Complete a simple natal chart to see where your Saturn shows up, and gain more clarity on how you may be influenced by this powerful planet.
Steven Forrest says it well in his book, “The Inner Sky”; “[Saturn] shows us impossibility, certain defeat… and then asks “Do you still have faith?” …this faith has nothing to do with religion. It is faith in life, in oneself, in our dreams and visions, in our ideals. It is faith in the idea that we have a destiny. And only if those visions can stand alone, unassisted, in the face of absolute impossibility, can we say that we truly have faith.”
