Mini Herb Profile | Arctium lappa | Burdock

Oh, Burdock how I love thee.

A much less bitter root than Dandelion, Burdock is another medicine that helps to support our liver. And who’s liver doesn’t need a little extra love? I’ll tell you, no one! 🙂

Not only does Burdock root (that’s the part I use the most…) help the liver, it also supports in cleansing the body of impurities in the blood, aids in healthy digestive function and clears the joints of build up, calming inflammation. Burdock is a well known cancer fighting herb found in the famous brew: Essiac Tea. Burdock has a unique way of flushing the body of malformed cells from the body making way for healthy cell growth. It’s incredibly mineral rich (as many root medicines are) and so is invaluable for healthy hair, skin and nail growth as well as giving us an energy support.

It’s another one of my favorite remedies for skin issues, especially for eczema, psoriasis, rosacea and dandruff.

Have you ever seen “gobo root” sushi on a menu? Gobo is another name for burdock root! And picked gobo sushi is a popular item at many Japanese restaurants. Try it, it’s delicious.

Burdock is my go-to herb for almost all heated and inflamed conditions in the body and especially when a “reset” is in order! Thank you Burdock! oxA
