Self-Care Kitchari Week

It’s the holiday season.
That means indulgences, eating lots of different kinds of foods, drinks, staying out late, packed schedules and rush, rush, rush!
So, where is the time for self care? Sometimes it’s nowhere to be found.
And yet, this is the time of year where I feel I need MORE self care & MORE of a “reboot” mind, body and spirit.
So, before the holidays really take off…I’m doing a week devoted to self-care. Would you like to join me?

This is what MY WEEK is going to look like, but you can do any variation or combination that suits YOUR schedule and needs. You can even start next week if you like. You’re the boss.

Wake Up No Later Than 7am

Use the Neti Pot

Oil Pull

Drink Warm Wise Water or Ginger Lemon Water First thing & all day

A Simple Yoga Practice

Abhyanga

before I shower ( You can certainly “speed it up” I don’t often have enough time to be as slow and luxurious as this video. And if you can only manage to give your feet a massage before bedtime- that’s great too!)

Meals:

Breakfast: Overnight Oats (oats, chia, almond milk, flax, pumpkin seed, berries a splash of maple syrup- let sit in the fridge overnight in a closed mason jar- eat in the morning)

Lunch & Dinner: Kitchari

Here are some links to some varying recipes: 1, 2, 3.  Take note that you can change up the veggies as you’d like (avoiding nightshades and mushrooms). And you can use coconut oil instead of ghee is you’re vegan. AND you can make the consistency as watery or not- as suits your preference. I prefer less mushy.

Kitchari is the perfect balance of nutrients and proteins to get you through your day and you can eat as much of it as you want. Have 3 bowls if you want! It’s SUPER easy to digest and gives your body a break to work on more important things like liver support, balanced digestion & elimination etc.

After My Work Day:

Viparita Karani held for at least 10 minutes (or until your feet get tingly!)

Gentle Liver support Tea 2hrs before bed.

Turn off electronics by 8pm.

Close my eyes by 10pm.

Whether you do some or all of these self care practices, any amount will help you! Even if you only eat kitchari a few times a week- it will serve you well.

If you have questions or want support along whatever version of a self care week you may be participating in, don’t hesitate to reach out.

The more time we make for self care this holiday season, the more we’ll enjoy it! xoA
